When we step out of the heated car and into the chilled night air, when Violet bunches in closer as we cross the curb outside of my apartment building, I canโ€™t help but to put my arm around herโ€”to pull her tiny body into mine and take in her fragrance.

The sweet scent of strawberries and cream.

I can practically taste itโ€”taste her.

The rising elevator to my penthouse seems to take forever. With the sexy siren cuddled closely under one arm, we walk slowly to the front door of my luxury apartment, each step agonizing, the long walk nothing but a wake-up call that thisโ€”what I have with Violetโ€”is real.

Realer than anything Iโ€™ve ever had with any woman.

I insert my key into the entryโ€™s opening, turning the lock. But before I can push the door open, I spin Violet in my arms, brushing thick auburn-red strands off her shoulders, my fingers sliding down her back to follow. I gaze into her gorgeous face, finding lust.

Finding all the answers I need.

I bend down to her, my fingers grazing across her tiny waist. My gut tightens.

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to do this, Keats,โ€ I probe. โ€œYou know that, donโ€™t you?โ€

She smiles slowly. โ€œCall me โ€˜Keatsโ€™ one more time and Iโ€™ll have to kill you.โ€

I return her smile. โ€œIโ€™m trying to be a goddamned decent person here.โ€ I raise an eyebrow. โ€œYou know how hard that is for meโ€ฆโ€

She laughs softly. โ€œYeah, I definitely do.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s justโ€ฆ I donโ€™t want to rush you into anything youโ€™re not fully ready for.โ€

โ€œIs that you talking or is that Mr. Tequila talking?โ€

โ€œUnfortunately, itโ€™s me,โ€ I say, shaking my head. โ€œDefinitely me. If it were up to Mr. Tequila, heโ€™d be taking your panties off with his teeth right now.โ€ She scoffs on a laugh, and I hug her close, wrapping her in my arms as I stare down at her. โ€œMr. Tequila doesnโ€™t like to do a whole a lot of talking if you havenโ€™t noticed.โ€

I watch as Violetโ€™s grin falls from her pretty face. Her stare turns serious. Glancing up at me with a gleam in her celeste-blue eyes, she talks to me without words, and as my gaze travels the length of her bodyโ€”up her stilettos, over the pencil skirt thatโ€™s a perfect fit on her sensuously curvy figure and over the blue blouse covering her breasts, I know that I want her more than Iโ€™ve ever wanted a woman.

No, not want. Need.

God fucking help meโ€ฆ I need this woman.
